Recruiting Practice in Your Backyard
selfRecruiting.com workshops are intensive sessions in which we work with small, team-sized groups to help players jumpstart the recruiting process. Our workshops are all about personal attention, fun activities and a vibrant andpositive learning environment.
Ample Q&A follows the session, along with plenty of time for schmoozing afterwards (the current world record is 9 hours!) Workshops are led by Avi Stopper, Author of Make the Team and former Assistant Coach at the University of Chicago.
During the multimedia workshop, you'll learn and begin to work through our revolutionary approach to college recruiting. You'll practice talking to college coaches, clean up your soccer resume, and bust through all the old college soccer myths. A free copy of Make the Team is included for each player along with a wide range of activities including:
| Role Playing: How to Talk to a College Coach |
| Resume & Cover Letter Writing and Refining |
| Seeing What a Great Video Looks Like |
| Brainstorming What You Want in a College |
| Identifying Who Should Write Your References |
Workshops are available for clubs and teams across the country. They take place in your backyard (literally sometimes) or in a nearby meeting room.
Guest College Coaching
In conjunction with our workshops, we offer teams a unique opportunity to get out on the field and practice with a college coach. Before or after the workshops, we get out on the field with you and run an intense 90-minute training session. Practices include such concepts and activities as:
| Organizing an Attack |
| Counterattacking |
| Zonal Defending |
| Street Games: soccer-tennis, horseshoes, etc. |
| Doggie-Bags: skill games to play at home |
This is rare chance to experience what training is really like for a college team. Not only are these practices intense training experiences, they will also give you a benchmark for when you visit colleges.
