Avi Stopper was until recently the Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at the University of Chicago, which plays in the highly competitive University Athletic Association conference. He is a graduate of the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

Before coming to Chicago, Avi was captain of the soccer team at Wesleyan University, where he studied geology. During college he directed and coached at summer camps for young players.

As a high school player, Avi received some attention from college coaches, but not much from those at the schools he was interested in attending. By a stroke of good luck and a bit of old fashioned scrambling, he managed to wiggle his way onto the team at Wesleyan.

Avi's great experience as a college player along with his own recruiting experience and observations as a college coach inspired him to write Make the Team. He feels deeply that all players should have the resources to make the most of the college recruiting process.

Beyond soccer, Avi rides his longboard wherever there is pavement. Where there isn't, he tries to keep his geology skills honed.
